Bryan Nesbitt Designer PT Cruiser
Bryan Nesbitt was born in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A. on January 24, 1969.
His father recognized his talents at age 12 and took him to the campus of the Art Center College of Design in
Pasadena, Calif.
Nesbitt was so impressed and he returned to the Art Center as a student after graduating from high school and
studying architecture and industrial design at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Nesbitt graduated with a bachelor of science degree in industrial design from the Art Center College of Design.
He also interned at DaimlerChrysler's Pacifica Advanced Product Design Center in Carlsbad , California.
DaimlerChrysler hired him in 1994. The years of schooling paid off for Nesbitt in 1996, when DaimlerChrysler called
upon him - a 27-year-old untested designer - to design a retro vehicle that would become the PT Cruiser.
“It was a great opportunity for me because they just asked me what I thought,” he said.
The end result – the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser – was unveiled at the 1999 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
It was named Motor Trend's 2001 Car of the Year.
He also was responsible for the the 1998 Chrysler Pronto Cruizer and the 1997 Chrysler Composite Concept Vehicle,
made of lightweight, recyclable composite materials.
In April 2001 he joined General Motors as Chief Designer for the Chevrolet brand.
